Brave Browser and Claiming Your Free Basic Attention Token (BAT)

Update 2/12/2020:

You can now claim your rewards in the iOS app (brave announcement)

Update 12/20/2019:

It looks like the BAT Grant has been depleted, but the Brave Ad network is in full swing and you can now be shown up to 5 ads per hour and get rewarded with BAT tokens.

Brave is an open source and free browser from Brave Software Inc. that loads faster with better privacy protection. The firm was co-founded by Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript and a co-founder of Mozilla. Brave keeps data safe and provides users with the power to save or delete it. It features a built-in ad tracker and blocker. Unlike most common browsers, Brave also helps to fight phishing and malware.

note: We are supporters of Brave and their new business model. Our referral links pay out in BAT which we use to support and tip other content providers who register as Brave Creators.

Brave is giving out BAT to users every month from their User-Growth-Pool (UGP), which is intended for promoting the Brave platform. Thus, this free BAT cannot be withdrawn to your own wallet for personal use. This free BAT can only be used towards donating to your favorite websites, YouTubers, or Twitch streamers (more platform support coming soon).

Free BAT can only be claimed on the desktop (PC/mac) version of the browser. Free BAT currently cannot be claimed on mobile browsers, such as Android and iOS.

1. Downloading the Brave Browser

First you can use our referral link to download the Brave Browser, or go directly to their website.

2. Setting up Brave

When you open up the Brave Browser for the first time you will see the following screens to step through:

3. Claiming your BAT

Every month Brave will give out up to 40 BAT to users to help grow adoption of the browser and stimulate the use of “tipping” Brave Verified Publishers. To claim this BAT, you can do it from one of two places:

1. Brave Rewards Address Bar Icon. If you see Token Grant, Click OK and proceed with the instructions.

2. Brave Rewards Settings Page (chrome://rewards/): Navitage to the rewards page and if you see “A Free Token Grant is Available”, proceed to claim the grant.  Otherwise wait until the next grant.

Here’s a video by the BAT Community showing you how to do these steps.
